For patients with Rifampicin-susceptible, Isoniazid (H)-resistant TB cases, the evidence generation was focused on determining whether treatment outcomes in H mono\/poly DR-TB patients receiving (H)REZ ((isoniazid optional)\u2013rifampicin\u2013ethambutol\u2013pyrazinamide) treatment regimens of variable duration<\/strong><\/span> could be improved with the addition of a fluoroquinolone or streptomycin<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Duration of (H)REZ ,<\/strong>The analysis comparing (H)REZ treatment regimens for 6 months (6(H)REZ) and more than 6 months (>6(H)REZ) demonstrated that a 6(H)REZ regimen had a higher likelihood of treatment success than a >6(H)REZ regimen.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

Addition of a fluoroquinolone, <\/strong>In patients with H mono\/poly DR-TB, treatment success rates were higher when fluoroquinolones were added to (H)REZ regimens than when patients were treated with 6(H)REZ or >6(H)REZ without the addition of fluoroquinolones. <\/p>\n\n

Acquisition of additional resistance with progression to multi-drug resistant (MDR-TB) was also reduced when fluoroquinolones were added to a \u22656(H)REZ regimen .
