The Mycobacterium Growth Inhibitor Tube (MGIT) instrument needs daily, routine and need-based maintenance.
Maintenance Needs
- Daily
- Checking the incubator temperature
- Checking the temperature of the internal thermometer
- Checking the printer paper supply
- Testing the red, green and amber Light-emitting Diode (LED) lights for each drawer
- Printing the "Quality Control Report”
- Routine, user preventive
- Monthly changing or cleaning of the cabinet air filters
- Replacement of the fluorescence calibrator vials when they expire
- “As needed” basis
- Cleaning the Barcode Scanner Window with a damp, lint-free, non-abrasive cloth
- Cleaning of any leakage or spill of drawer tube holder with disinfectants (1% sodium hypochlorite, 70% alcohol)
- Maintenance/ repair by the manufacturer
Maintenance and cleaning logs should be maintained for the instrument.
